Once upon a time (before Netflix, before streaming… before even TV), there was a Vaudeville performer named Mr Doyle.

He travelled from town to town, dazzling audiences with his shows—and collecting an incredible wardrobe along the way. We’re talking trunks overflowing with spectacular, larger-than-life costumes.

Then the world changed.

Radio took over. Cinema arrived. The crowds faded… and the curtain fell on the travelling shows.

So what do you do when you’re left with a treasure trove of amazing costumes?

You open a costume shop, of course.

And just like that, over 70 years ago, Doyles Fancy Costumes was born.

The first store opened in Canterbury Court in Perth and quickly became a go-to destination for fun, flair, and a bit of transformation. The business stayed in the family for years before moving to Osborne Park, where it continued to grow its reputation (and its costume collection).

In 1997, the next act began when siblings Michael and Michele took over the business. Not long after, the next generation stepped into the spotlight, with Michael’s son Trent taking over the Wangara store in 2000.

By 2010, the Osborne Park and Wangara stores went their separate ways.

After 30 amazing years of helping generations of customers dress up, stand out, and have a laugh, Michele and David took their final bow and closed the Osborne Park store.

But the show goes on.

Today, Doyles lives on at our Wangara superstore—bigger, brighter, and packed to the rafters with over 3,000 costumes, wigs, accessories, and collectables.

You’ll find us at Unit 1, 54 Prindiville Drive, Wangara, with over 450 sqm of dress-up heaven to explore.

We’re big believers in old-fashioned customer service (the good kind). Our friendly team is here to help you try things on, have a laugh, and find the perfect look—whether you’re going all-out or just adding a touch of fun.

We’ve expanded into retail, but we still offer a huge range of quality costume hire—because sometimes you just need to be a Teletubby for the weekend.
