Since 1945 the CBCA have teamed up with schools and libraries nationwide to celebrate Book week, an annual event and initiative designed to encourage children across Australia to read, learn and have fun. During this week children are asked to dress up in their favourite book character and bring in their favourite book pertaining to that year’s theme.

In 2021 Book week is back and is bigger than ever with a brand-new theme ‘Old worlds, New worlds, Other worlds. This theme covers a wide array of costumes for example for Old worlds you can travel back in time and become your favourite historical figure or maybe something a little prehistoric such as a ravenous Dinosaur, for new worlds you could be an astronaut or an alien from out of the space and for new worlds you can explore you imagination and become something a little more mystical such as a monster, mermaid, wizard, fairy or dragon.

The official date for this year’s 2021 book week starts in term 3 and is from the 21st- 27th of August so get in quick to beat the rush and watch your child’s face light up from excitement for this years Book Week.
